On November 9, 2015, the Ministry of Education and Science (MES) presented the fifth edition of the Rating System of Higher Education Institutions in Bulgaria, containing information on 51 accredited higher education institutions in the country, which offer training in specialties distributed across 52 professional fields.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science, "the fifth version becomes a monitoring tool, a tool for assessing the quality of higher education in our country, and a tool for selecting higher education institutions in accordance with the needs of interested groups."
The Technical University of Sofia is an undisputed leader in higher technical education in Bulgaria. It is leading in 6 out of a total of 9 professional fields.see
