"It is impossible to list all the professions of automation engineers...". The specialty is among the four most sought-after in Bulgaria in the field of technical sciences and is accredited with a high rating by the National Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation. It falls within the four national scientific priorities, with strong innovative potential and significance for the economic development of the Republic of Bulgaria. It is a fact that modern machines are automated and robots, and modern processes are automated and robotic. Therefore, automation engineers are widely sought after in all spheres of modern technology and engineering.

Applicants must have completed secondary education. Admission is conducted after successfully passing applicant exams (tests) in Mathematics and Physics. The applicant's competitive score is formed by adding to the grades from the secondary education diploma in Mathematics and Physics one of the following grades:

• from a successfully passed state maturity exam (matura) in Bulgarian language and literature, Mathematics, or Physics, multiplied by 2.8;

• from the Mathematics test (preliminary or regular), multiplied by 3;

The four-year Bachelor's program in "Automation, Information and Control Engineering" covers fundamental subjects in the first two years, such as Higher Mathematics, Physics, Materials Science, Mechanics, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, and a foreign language. In the following two years, students study specialized subjects including Automatic Control Theory, Technical Means of Automation, Microprocessor Technology, Automation of Technological Processes, Control of Electromechanical Systems, Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Programmable Logic Controllers, and others.

Graduates in automation engineering can successfully work in engineering, manufacturing, and design firms, in the field of automatic control systems; management and executive units in industry, energy, transport, construction, agriculture, and the non-production sector; instrument-making and metrological services, industrial enterprises; firms related to automation and quality control; enterprises focused on the production and operation of automation means; educational and qualification units for training personnel in the field of automation and information-measuring technology.
